Biography

Skylar Astin Lipstein was born on September 23rd, 1987 to Meryl and Barry Lipstein. Skylar grew up as the middle child of the family along with his two brothers Jace (eldest), Milan (younger) and sister Brielle (youngest) in New City, New York. After graduating from Clarkstown High School North, he attended Stagedoor Manor summer camp. He was also a student at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, but took a leave of absence when he made his Broadway debut in 2006′s ‘Spring Awakening’.

In 2008, he made his feature film debut as Rand Posin, a closeted teenage homosexual, in director Andrew Fleming’s musical farce ‘Hamlet 2′. He also sang “Raped in the Face” on the soundtrack along with Phoebe Strole, who was his co-star in the film, and the film’s star, Steve Coogan.

After a few guest appearances on television shows such as ‘House’, ‘Love Bites’ & HBO’s ‘Girls’ Skylar jumped back to the big screen in possibly his most famous role to date. Playing Jesse in one of the biggest hits of 2012, ‘Pitch Perfect’ alongside Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow & Rebel Wilson. He was also featured on the movie’s soundtrack.

In 2013, Skylar is set to take the big screen once more, but under the guidance of ‘The Hangover’ writers in their new coming of age comedy ’21 and Over’ slated for a March release.
